On 24 November, a meeting was held at the University of Gdańsk Rector's Office to summarise the cooperation between the University of Gdańsk Library and the University of Gdańsk Archives in the field of digitalisation of collections. At the meeting, the Director of the University of Gdańsk Archives, Dr Monika Płuciennik, expressed her gratitude for the commitment, support and excellent cooperation during the implementation of the project.

Inauguration of the 2025/2026 Academic Year under the Sign of Witkacy

The official inauguration of the 2025/2026 academic year will take place on Friday, October 3, at 10:00 a.m. in the Main Library of the University of Gdańsk. The event, held under the patronage of Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz – Witkacy – will bring together the entire academic community.

Library users and those wishing to make use of the study spaces are welcome from 1:00 p.m., after the conclusion of the ceremony. Until then, readers are encouraged to visit nearby specialist libraries, which will remain open as usual.

Opening of the garden on the terrace of the UG Main Library

Last Thursday, 25th of September, a special meeting was held at the Main Library of the University of Gdańsk, which brought together many guests from the academic community. The event was attended by librarians from the Main Library and specialist libraries, the former director of the University of Gdańsk Library, Ms Grażyna Jaśkowiak, and the Vice-Rectors of the University of Gdańsk, Prof. Wiesław Laskowski and Prof. Ewa Szymczak.

The book locker is working again

We would like to inform you that our book locker is working again. We have introduced new software that allows you not only to collect your ordered books, but also to return them to the selected locker and check your account balance. 

We apologise for the fact that the implementation and testing work took so long.

If you have any difficulties using the book locker, please contact the librarians who process your orders (desk on the first floor, next to Selfcheck).

A cosy green terrace at the Main Library

Dear Readers,
we are delighted to announce that our Green Haven  has been given a facelift – we have furnished it with comfortable and varied garden furniture, which creates a unique, relaxing atmosphere.

The terrace now features comfortable rocking chairs, corner sofas, tables that can be arranged as needed, and large, fold-out umbrellas that provide pleasant shade on hot days.
It is a space where learning meets relaxation, and a moment spent on the terrace can become the best moment of the day. 📚✨
